Originally from Latvia, Katerina Apale is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, drawing, and textiles. Since relocating to Australia in 2014, the country’s radiant coastal light and diverse native landscape have profoundly shaped her practice. Her expressive compositions capture the interplay of colour, texture, and movement found in the bush and along the shoreline — from sunlit blooms to glimmers of the sea. Blending her European art training with the vivid energy of Australia, Katerina creates contemporary works that celebrate nature’s rhythm, emotion, and atmosphere, reflecting both her curiosity and deep connection to her surroundings.
