Artist - Metal Sculptor

Simon Treseder

Simon Treseder, an Australian metal sculptor, with a metal lionfish sculpture.

“I love the process of creating these sculptures—the challenges fuel my imagination and push me to new creative heights. It’s become my greatest passion, second only to surfing.”

Simon Treseder is a metal sculptor based on the Central Coast of New South Wales, creating distinctive artworks from reclaimed metals and weathered tools. With a background in custom motorcycle and hot-rod fabrication, Simon brings industrial precision and creativity to every sculpture. His works often depict coastal animals—pelicans, fish, crabs, turtles—formed from forgotten materials and reimagined with artistic purpose.

Inspired by the ocean that surrounds him, Simon’s art pays homage to Australia’s coastal wildlife. Whether it's a seabird poised mid-flight or a fish fashioned from rusted spanners and gears, each piece captures movement and character while retaining the raw integrity of its components. By embracing rust, age, and imperfection, Simon celebrates the natural patina of his materials and underscores the beauty of renewal.

Driven by a strong environmental ethos, Simon is passionate about giving scrap metal a second life. His sculptures not only reflect the creatures of the sea but also a sustainable approach to art-making. When he’s not in the studio, you’ll likely find him snorkelling or surfing—activities that keep him closely connected to the ocean and continually inspired by its forms, textures, and inhabitants.
