Moments of Solitude

Introducing "Moments of Solitude", a new series of paintings that capture the beauty and serenity of being alone with oneself. Each piece reflects a unique moment of introspection and invites the viewer to embrace the stillness of the present moment.

My art is guided by a desire to transport viewers to the coast, invoking relaxation, nostalgia, and joy. These ideas are intricately woven into the very essence of my creative process, shaping both the content and purpose of my art.

Childhood memories hold a cherished place in my artistic journey. Weekends spent by the river, indulging in water skiing, swimming, and boat adventures, and family holidays in the scenic caravan parks by rivers and dams across NSW, or aboard our houseboat on the Hawkesbury River. These experiences, filled with water sports and a love for the great outdoors, have left an indelible mark on my heart. Trips to Moreton Island with its breathtaking vistas and crystal-clear waters, teeming with wildlife, have also woven their way into the fabric of my inspiration.

Today, I proudly call the Central Coast my home—a place where the relaxed coastal living is a way of life. From my studio, I hear the occasional hum of boats and the joyful sounds of children playing in the water. Nestled among the treetops, my current home and studio offer ever-changing views of water and tree-covered mountains. This environment serves as an unending source of inspiration, its harmonious presence resonating in my work. It is a world where the serenity of the national park seamlessly integrates with the vibrant coastal lifestyle.

My art is influenced by my childhood memories and the unbreakable bond I share with the natural world. This connection to the water, the land, and wildlife continues to steer my creative journey. I use art to shed light on environmental concerns, such as pollution and climate change, urging us all to appreciate and safeguard the beauty that surrounds us.

In this new series, I've been drawn to the world of Abstract Realism. This innovative blend of abstract and realistic elements allows for creative interpretation while maintaining a profound connection to the subject matter. In my current series, I experiment with this approach by seamlessly intertwining realistic figures with semi-abstract backgrounds.

Currently, I am immersed in the creation of my new series, "Moments of Solitude."

This series draws deeply from the concept of crafting a serene and tranquil atmosphere. My goal is to tap into viewers' personal memories and emotions tied to coastal experiences, particularly those moments of solitude by the shore. By evoking these feelings, I aspire to forge a deeper connection between my artwork and its audience, making the coastal scenes feel intimately familiar.
