One of the largest and only herbivorous marine turtles, the green turtle feeds almost exclusively on seagrass and algae. Turtles nest in over 80 countries throughout the world. However only a few large nesting populations of green turtles remain in the world and Australia has some of the largest. Adult green turtles grow to 1.5 metres long. The average weight of mature individuals is 68–190 kg.
