The silver gull is the most common gull of Australia. It has been found throughout the continent, but particularly at or near coastal areas. The Silver Gull has become a successful scavenger, readily pestering humans for handouts of scraps, pilfering from unattended food containers. Other food includes worms, fish, insects and crustaceans.
